Apples snacks made with lots of nutritious toppings that will tame your kid’s sweet tooth.
Fall is the best time to buy apples
The Fall is a great time to buy apples. They are relatively inexpensive because they are in season, and if you’re lucky enough, you can go pick your own at a local orchard. Sometimes you can even find an apple tree while you’re out driving, as we have done in the past.
Although apples are a year round snack in our house, it’s a little more fun having fresh picked apples to munch on. It’s even more so when you start making delicious snacks and desserts with the kids from the apples you just plucked off the trees. The kids want to eat what they helped pick.
Right now, we are loving our Honey Crisp apples. They are so crispy and juicy! I don’t think I’ve eaten a better tasting apple. Besides eating a fresh apple, I also like to grate them into pancakes (so yummy) and chopping them into turkey salad (try it!), Even adding chopped apples to a garden salad adds a little crunch and sweetness that the kids and I love.
Peanut free options
These apple snacks are just as good if you use a nut free alternative like Wow Butter. When I send apple snacks with my daughter to school, I use the peanut free option. If you’d like to get a few other ideas for your kid’s lunches, check out this post,
What you need to make apple snacks
- peanut butter (I use natural)
- nuts (pecans and almonds)
- dark chocolate chips
Easy as pie
- core and slice apples
- spread with peanut butter
- and sprinkle on the toppings!
Let them eat sweets
What??! Am I serious? Yes, I sure am. There’s actually some healthy ways to kill your kid’s sweet tooth (yours as well). Adding a little something on top of a healthy snack can do double duty: provides a nutritious snack (moms happy) and provides a little sugar (kids happy). But you can swap to dark chocolate chips to keep it “healthier” if you like.

Easy, delicious and nutritious apple peanut butter snacks will satisfy your kid’s sweet tooth and still be healthy!
- 2 large apples

I have sliced the apple first and then using a paring knife, removed the core. It worked alot easier for me.
